Campbell River Comets - Brief Background and History

 logo

The Campbell River Comets Track and Field Club was formed in March of 1994 to meet the needs of many enthusiastic young athletes within our community. The Comets Track Club provides an opportunity for children, youth and adults to develop their athletic abilities in the sport of Track and Field.

Beginning with a roster of about 30 eager young members in 1994, the club showed that it had a very strong core group of athletes. Many of our athletes have since gone on to represent Zone 6 at the BC Summer Games as well as at various youth Nationals Meets.

The C.R. Comets Track & Field Club is open to all athletes, from ages 9 to adult. Most of the competitive meets that the club attends are focused on the 9-14 years (JD) category. Our older athletes (Midget / Youth / Junior) compete in their age respective meets within BC and elsewhere. There are several sanctioned JD meets during the regular season on the Vancouver Island circuit, all listed in the club handbook and on this website.

In addition, there are a few provincial level meets, which are open to the more serious and talented athletes. These are also listed on this website. We hope that in the coming years, the C.R. Comets will continue to develop and inspire many fine young athletes to represent Campbell River on the Track and Field scene in the province.
